2010 Tickets On Sale Now
It’s been all about skating tickets here on Boot and Blade. For those of you with dreams of being an Olympic spectator, now’s the time to submit your ticket requests over at the official 2010 website. The purchase process is a bit confusing–as is the semi-functioning website–but once you figure out how to register for an account you’re well on your way.
No surprise here, figure skating tickets are expensive ranging from 50$ to $450/seat. The biathlon, in contrast, is $70 for a half-day event.
It’s hard to get a sense of how impossible it will be to actually get tickets–it’s supposedly based on a kind of lottery system. Vanoc has promised that lots of British Columbians will get to see the action in person, but part of me wonders whether the best events (like skating) will be filled to the brim with sponsors.
I do applaud the process of giving spectators a full month to make ticket request choices. It’s nice not to have the time pressure of a typical TicketMaster online sale while deciding whether dropping $450 on an Exhibition ticket exhilarating, or just plain foolhardy. Ticket requests are open till November 7.
