For Those Who’ve Lost Faith in Ice Dance
There aren’t too many things I get choked-up about, especially on YouTube. But, here I am sitting at my computer all teary-eyed watching Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir win Skate Canada with an enchanting free program.
Choreographed to Umbrellas of Cherbourg, this free dance combines the best of classic ice dance steps with an emotional, captivating performance. The top ice dancers cast a spell over the audience in a way free skaters can’t because we get too distracted by the tricks.
I often give ice dance a bad rap for boring me to tears, but this four-minute masterpiece evoked the real thing.
