Welcome Back News Round-up
Welcome back! It's been a restful summer break from the skating world, but it's time to lace up the boots for another season. Just in case you missed some of the news from summer, here's a quick roundup:
* Yaguden says he wants to return to the competitive ranks
* World Ice Dancing champion faces charges in fatal crash
* Aaron Lowe gets plum posting as Director of High Performance with Skate Canada
Before summer break, I posted about Craig Buntin looking for a new pairs partner. He's hooked-up with Meagan Duhamel and they'll debut the partnership at Canadians this year.
I'm not convinced about this couple, especially if Buntin has his eye on a 2010 medal. Despite being a strong, gutsy, teeny 4'11 powerhouse, Ms. Duhamel has a tendency towards lackluster skating between elements.
On the other hand, team mates Dube and Davidson have plenty of on-ice magic, and it's what I think will keep them at the top of the podium at Canadians if they can stay consistent.
Check out Ms. Duhamel's website. Beware: flashy flash design.
